Xavier dusted himself off and went about retrieving his shurikens, cleaning each one off, and putting them back in their places.
"Anyone know what these pots might be?" Xavier asked, inspecting them closely

Re: Keep on the Shadowfell
Gutwrench, still sitting with his newly acquired skull, narrowed his eyes at Avien. He stuck his hand into the skull and manipulated its jawbone, much like a puppet. "I'm Avien and I'm sooooo important because I'm big and tall and scaly. Raaawr!" Gutwrench mocked, through the skull. His interpretation of Avien's voice was decidedly more feminine.
Gutwrench stood and headed back to his pack, sure to give the skull a safe spot where it wouldn't be disturbed. He was now ready to carry on with his great adventure.

- Success! The vials marked red appear to be filled with some sort of alchemist fire. The vial marked white seems to be filled with a very viscous gluey substance.
Re: Keep on the Shadowfell
Having not finding anything really useful to himself, Alzor leaves the pile of spoils alone and was now ready to continue on his way.

Re: Keep on the Shadowfell
The rutted King's Road leads to the foot of a broad hill that holds the walled village of Winterhaven. The village is nestled in teh southern foothills of the Cairngorn Peaks. The walls are weathered stone topped by defensive palisades. Small thatched homes stand around Winterhaven, each fronting a small pice of farmland or pasture. Beyond the farms to the west and south lie dark woods, and to the north, tall mountain peaks.
As you finally reach the town the sun begins to hang below the near mountain peaks. When you cross the gate into the city a guard from the pallisade yells down to you.
"If you are seeking room and board, the Wrafton Inn has food and rooms for a fair price."

Re: Keep on the Shadowfell
Having been on the road for a while, a bed sounded great to Alzor. Alzor also knew inns could be a great source to gather information.
Turning to his companions he says "Hey guys I think we should head there. We could find some information there and also get a good sleep."

Re: Keep on the Shadowfell
"Aye, some ale and rest would do us well. Perhaps we can gather some leads for tomorrow"
Re: Keep on the Shadowfell
As you enter Wrafton Inn you are greeted by the delicous smell of meat roasting over a fire. The inn appears to be rather busy, many of the tables taken with plainly dressed folk. Many people are sitting together, but you notice a single elf sitting alone in the corner. As you approach the bar a portly woman yells out cheerfully.
"Good day gents! This is the Wrafton Inn, my name is Salvana Wrafton, this is the Wrafton Inn, its mine if you didn't guess. If you want to spend the night I have have plenty of room. Less and less traders since the kobolds started raiding the roads. I certainly wish Lord Padraig would take care of them. Auch, now I'm babbling!. Its 5 gp a night if you want to spend the night 7 and I will even provide you with some dinner"
Give me a ready! and where you are spending the night once you are ready to move on to tommorow.

Re: Keep on the Shadowfell
Gutwrench struts authoritatively to the bar and climbs awkwardly onto a stool at the bar.
"Good day, madame! My friends and I have had a long day of slaying, rescuing and adventuring and our throats are parched! I'll take your offer of food and board."
With this, Gutwrench slides 7 gold across the bar. "That's for me and my new friend Reginald," he says, pulling the kobold skull out of his backpack. After setting it on the bar, he slides 10 more gold pieces over.
"And that is to keep the ale flowing for me and my companions."
With that, he turns and addresses his allies. "Drink deep! Let's celebrate our greatest victory yet!"

Re: Keep on the Shadowfell
A small crowd has formed around the tiny gnome, interested in the charred skull beside him but too fearful to approach. Eventually an old man pushes through the crowd.
"Whats all this hubbub? You there gnomish man, is that a skull that you have with you? Thats mighty queer thing to have in a tavern you know."
As the old man looks closer at the skull he lets out a soft whistle "That gosh darn be a kobold skull, seen many in my long life." The old man plops himself beside Gutwrench. " Salvana, a mead for the good gnome"
"So whats your name, gnome? I'm Elllian, Ellian the Old folks call me on account of farming this land before most of these younguns fathers started the trade. I bet you have a mighty fine tale to tell about killing kobolds. I'd love to hear it.

Re: Keep on the Shadowfell
Avien walked through the growing crowd that surrounded the little gnome, using their attraction to him to make his move to the inkeeper without being overly noticed. Sliding heavily onto a stool right near the bar taps he waves over to the woman and asks, with the utmost politeness, "We have been long on the road m'lady, it would be seen as a great kindness if you do us the kindness of lowering your rates. I'm sure they're low in comparison to the wonderful service you offer here at this fine establishment, but we did work up a sweat on slaying a troup of kobolds." finished the scaled being, motioning idly over at the fast talking, odd gnome.

Avien
- Spoiler:
- "Sorry deary, times have been tough as they are, what with trade dried up due to those kobolds. I got to try to make a living you know, keep the old roof over old Salvana's head as it where. If you be wanting a reward though, I would go talk to Lord Padraig on the morrow. He's been trying to convince the town militia to go take care of the kobolds for weeks now, he probally be mighty pleased that you fought some of them off."
Re: Keep on the Shadowfell
With a nod of acknowledgement he dips his head to the honest bar mistress. Handing her the 7 gp for room and food from his meagre purse, he gratefully takes a mug of ale as a bar wench saunters off to fetch him a plate of the nights meal. Eyes scanning the crowd, he gestures to his companions to come join him, with the intent of revealing the information about Lord Padraig to whomever of his party takes up a seat near his. His hopes for this mission grow slightly dimmer as the feeling that he`s about to be drawn into something other than his hunt for Uncle Douven are just beginning to take root in his soul
Re: Keep on the Shadowfell
Seeing the Avien gesture the group, Alzor walks over and sits down beside him. While pulling out the 7gp for food and a bed, he asked Avien what he found out.

Re: Keep on the Shadowfell
Nodding to the caster as he sat down, Avien took a large swig from his tankard. Repeating the information given by that busty wench to Alzor, he smiled in anticipation and said "Mayhap we'll come out of this venture financially ahead. Plus, we'll have access to Padraig to ask either him or his Captain of the guard if they've had any news of Douven Stahl. This could very well work out in our favor." With a chuckle that sounded like quiet thunder, he gestured towards their gnomish friend, gleefully entertaining the other bar-goers. "The imp over there has even provided physical proof of our encounter, should Padraig require it." Spinning towards the bar top on his stool, the armoured Dragonborn began to enjoy the modest meal provided.

Eric, Christian, Tyson and Scott have failed to post yesterday and have thus gained marks of inactivity. Failure to post today, will further increase their chance of having their characters devoured by demons.
Re: Keep on the Shadowfell
Gutwrench immediately grins from ear to ear at the old man. Finally, someone who recognized his greatness!
"Yes, sir! A kobold most fierce... my friends and I were ambushed by foul kobolds not too long ago... we had little trouble in dispatching them, however! A few kobolds are no match for the likes of us, hey fellows!?"
With this, a tankard of mead is placed in front of Gutwrench, which he gulps down and slams onto the bar once empty. "Luckily for this kobold here, I liberated him from the fleshy prison of his body. His name, he's told me, is Reginald. I believe he will prove to be an invaluable companion in the times ahead! Come, Ellian, meet my compatriots! Hey! Dragonbreath! Where'd you go!?"
Gutwrench jumps down from his barstool and begins walking towards Avien, his small frame already feeling the effects of the mead.

Re: Keep on the Shadowfell
Old man Elian walks up to Avien. If you boys have been slaying kobolds you should talk to Lord Padraig, he been trying to take care of the problem for weeks now. Says trade is the life blood of a town and hes right doncha know. The younguns though, they dont' want to risk getting hurt, if I was younger I'd do it myself. But I doubt killing kobolds is what brought you to our small town, what brings a band of adventurers all the way out to Winterhaven?
Re: Keep on the Shadowfell
After settling his bill with their hostess, Carric joins his comrades at their table with a pint of the local ale.
"Indeed, clearing the roads of kobolds is something of a side-venture for us, though not an unworthy one. We've heard that Douven Stahl has disappeared. We're interested in looking into it and hopefully finding him. Our reasons are our own, and varied, but we fell in with each other on the road based on our interest in the man.
I don't suppose you know anything about what he was doing before he vanished, or what has happened to him since, do you?"

Re: Keep on the Shadowfell
Overhearing you Salvana leans forward over the bartop.
"Oh your looking for old Douven!, he was here must have been 3 days ago. Spent the night in this very Inn doncha know? Said something about going to explore some old dragon bones or something, can't rightly say I knew what he was talking about.
At the mention of dragon bones the old man Ellian spoke up
"Theres an old myth that the quarry to the north is haunted by the ghost of a dragon, maybe he went to see if there really was dragon bones there?" "Its only a few hours away though, would think he would have come back by now."

Re: Keep on the Shadowfell
"Thank you for your help. It looks like we at least have something to go on."
Carric turns to his companions, "What do you say we head out to investigate this quarry, after we talk to this Lord Padraig, tomorrow?"
